The United Nations and its agencies call malnutrition a violation of children’s rights, while good nutrition sets children on the path to grow, develop, learn and reach their full potential. Despite significant progress over the past two decades, the UNICEF, WHO, World Bank global and regional child malnutrition estimates reveal that we are still far from a world without malnutrition. Estimates of child malnutrition help determine whether the world is on track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – specifically, target 2.2, to “end all forms of malnutrition by 2030”, which falls under goal 2 to “end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture”.
